A few months back I was asked by one of my favourite Calgary bloggers what does caribou have a twitter account? I didn’t have time to go through all of them because I already blog about so much. My reply was that I don’t have one and if someone would think I did I would be quite embarrassed. But then again, maybe I’m not the best blogger in the world. I have only been blogging for a couple of months. Let me explain.
I started getting requests for comments about Twitter from various people who wanted me to comment on something that someone else had written. The requests always made me laugh to the point of being tired the next day. It became apparent that most of the people asking for the comments didn’t actually read what they were commenting on. So, I sort of went on auto-pilot mode and let the Twitter messages do the talking.
Now, I am not going to pretend that I am a religious person or that religion has anything to do with why I get one or two questions every once in a while about the biblical Book of Ruth or why Jesus loves children. I am just going to say that there is a certain “coincidence” when you consider most of the people asking for the thoughts and opinions of others seem to have very similar values and beliefs as myself. I am in no way judging anyone or condoning their beliefs.
Some other people use Twitter to make friends and leave comments on other people’s blogs. While I don’t really consider this as social networking per se, it does tend to attract attention from some interesting people. I suppose the main reason for leaving comments on someone else’s blog is to say that I like what they are doing and maybe they can help me with something. This is only one aspect of this medium.
The real question is does caribou have a Twitter account? Well, it does but not much. Their main site doesn’t list any current or past tweets. It does list their location, although it is very difficult to find that information for the greater part. Other than that their main site does list all of their products and services they offer along with their contact information.
If you Google “caribou blog” or search for it in a search engine you will get some interesting results. If you are a fan of blogs you will likely be interested in the caribou blog. The good news is that there is now a blog on Twitter which allows you to read real time tweets from the author. I am not going to pretend that it is great as the blog has not been updated in a few months and it is quite difficult to follow along with the author. But if you are an avid blogger or simply want to check for updates on a regular basis then this may be a good place to start.
