On the fourth day of the new year, India celebrates Holi. On the first day of the new year, India celebrates the Winter Festival. In India, this particular festival is known as Durga Puja. It is on the first day of the Hindu month Shraavana and is celebrated with all the same zeal and enthusiasm that are witnessed on any other festival. In India, people decorate their homes, temples, and hotels with flowers, decorated cloths, and wonderful objects. On the twelfth day of the Hindu calendar, Happy New Year’s Eve is celebrated with all the same fanfare and gaiety that are witnessed on the first day of the new year. After the ceremonies, Vrindavan, the meeting place of Lord Ganesha and Parvati, is decorated with a lot of lights. The next day, Jainas and Brahmin youth offer prayers to the lord.
